Job Summary

The Accountant will be based in Chennai. This role ensures accurate accounting activities and effective financial operations for the function. It also puts appropriate financial and accounting procedures in place to coordinate transactions, meets compliance with relevant legislative and corporate directives, and keeps data accurate and reliable for business operations.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities, including balance sheet account reconciliations, coordinating annual audits and reviewing financial reports and holds as needed.
• Research and report on financial status, including income statement variances, communicate financial results to management and prepare budgets.
• Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
• Oversee taxes and follow federal regulations.
• Control and account for fixed asset additions, disposals and transfers.
• Generate reports for labor investigation, expense research, the monthly balance sheet and the monthly customer profit and loss statement, then review and act on the results.
• Make sure budgets, schedules and performance requirements are met.
• Review all inter-company ICV bookings and payments.
• Ensure accurate accounting of all transactions and monthly inventory valuation.
• Coordinate or oversee the annual physical inventory or stock take.
• Research expenses for cost centers, departments and projects.

The Experience We Are Looking to Add

Accounts Receivable

• Ensure invoices for shipments and services are generated and submitted on time.
• Start early identification and resolution of customer disputes.
• Contact customers by email and phone to confirm shipment receipt, invoices, upcoming payment dates and invoices due for payment.
• Make sure funds credited to the Flex bank account are accounted for promptly.
• Prepare weekly AR reports, update them, and prepare AR and GL reconciliations.
• Complete month-end accounting activities as per the corporate calendar.
• Support audit requirements for the assigned function.

Accounts Payable

• Process invoices within the agreed TAT as per standard operating procedures.
• Resolve discrepant invoices as per standard operating procedures.
• Reconcile supplier statements of accounts with Flex Books and keep aged transactions and risk exposure items within acceptable limits.
• Ensure timely payment disbursements and accurate accounting for them.
• Complete month-end accounting activities as per the corporate calendar.
• Support audit requirements for the assigned function.
