Job Description

Job Title: Analyst / Senior Analyst

The Business Finance function manages business level revenue attribution, financial accounting, and disclosures. The team ensures daily, accurate reporting of Profit and Loss (PnL) for each business unit and provides clarity on the drivers behind risk positions and PnL outcomes. It also ensures that all transactions and positions are properly recorded in the bank's accounting systems and disclosed in line with relevant accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely daily T+1 P&L production, attribution, and analysis.
  • Provide daily commentary and investigate variances for Front Office traders and senior finance management.
  • Investigate and resolve breaks including model vs actual ledger cash and FO/MO systems vs trade documentation.
  • Address model risk control exceptions and related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to risk management and control guidelines.
  • Respond to queries from stakeholders including finance directors, onshore management, front office traders, financial control teams, and risk management.
  • Understand trade flows and booking structures to ensure trades are captured accurately for correct funding cost allocation through funds transfer pricing.
  • Post product appropriate journals.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements including income statement and balance sheet.
  • Perform key control checks such as reconciliations between management accounting and financial accounting, front office and back office comparisons, and balance sheet substantiation.
  • Conduct regular calls with stakeholders.
  • Support audit and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience or understanding of financial control or product control within investment banking.
  • Knowledge of financial market products such as loans, bonds, credit instruments, derivatives, cash equities, swaps, options, and futures.
  • Understanding of fixed income products including bonds, CDS, TRS, IRS, and loans.
  • Familiarity with IFRS or GAAP standards is preferred.
  • Exposure to the investment banking lifecycle from trade capture to balance sheet reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with multiple front office systems is beneficial.
