Job Description
The Business Finance function manages business-level revenue attribution, financial accounting, and financial disclosures. The team ensures the accurate and timely reporting of Profit and Loss (PnL) for each business unit and explains the drivers behind risk positions and PnL movements. It also ensures that all transactions and positions are properly reflected in the bank’s accounting records and disclosures according to applicable accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely daily T+1 PnL reporting, attribution, and analysis.
- Provide daily commentary and investigate variances for Front Office traders and senior Finance managers.
- Investigate and resolve breaks such as model vs actual ledger cash differences and system vs trade documentation discrepancies.
- Address model risk control exceptions.
- Ensure adherence to risk and control guidelines.
- Respond promptly to queries from stakeholders including finance directors, onshore management, traders, finance control, and risk teams.
- Understand trade flows and booking structures to ensure trades are captured correctly for funding cost allocation through funds transfer pricing.
- Post product-appropriate journals and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements including income statement and balance sheet.
- Perform reconciliations such as management accounting vs financial accounting, front office vs back office, and balance sheet substantiation.
- Conduct stakeholder calls and discussions when required.
- Support audit and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Experience
- Experience or exposure to financial control or product control within investment banking.
- Understanding of financial market instruments including loans, bonds, credit products, derivatives, cash equity, swaps, options, and futures.
- Knowledge of fixed income products such as bonds, CDS, TRS, IRS, and loans.
- Familiarity with IFRS or GAAP accounting standards is preferred.
- Understanding of the end-to-end investment banking environment from trade capture to balance sheet.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Exposure to front office trading or finance systems.
