Job Title: Analyst / Senior Analyst

Position Description

The Business Finance function is responsible for producing business-level revenue attribution, financial accounting, and financial disclosures. The team ensures accurate and timely daily reporting of Profit and Loss (PnL) for each business unit while explaining the drivers behind risk positions and performance.

The function also confirms that all transactions and positions are correctly reflected in the bank’s accounting records and disclosures in line with applicable accounting standards.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and timely daily T+1 PnL reports, including attribution and analysis.
  • Provide daily commentary and investigate variances for front office traders and senior finance managers.
  • Investigate and resolve breaks such as model versus ledger cash differences and discrepancies between systems and trade documentation.
  • Address model risk control exceptions.
  • Maintain adherence to risk and control guidelines.
  • Respond to queries from stakeholders including finance directors, front office traders, risk management, and onshore management.
  • Understand trade flows and booking structures to ensure transactions are captured correctly for funding cost allocation through funds transfer pricing.
  • Post product related journals.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements including the income statement and balance sheet.
  • Perform reconciliations such as management accounting versus financial accounting and front office versus back office.
  • Participate in stakeholder calls and discussions.
  • Support audit and regulatory requirements.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of financial control or product control within an investment banking environment.
  • Understanding of financial market instruments such as loans, bonds, credit products, derivatives, equities, swaps, options, and futures.
  • Familiarity with fixed income products including bonds, CDS, TRS, IRS, and loans.
  • Knowledge of IFRS or GAAP accounting standards is preferred.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end investment banking lifecycle from trade capture to balance sheet.
  • Strong capability with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
  • Exposure to multiple front office systems is beneficial.

Education

  • Preferably pursuing or qualified MBA, Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or CFA.
