Job Description

Job Title: Analyst / Senior Analyst

Location: Mumbai

The Business Finance function oversees business level revenue attribution, financial accounting, and disclosures. The team ensures accurate and timely reporting of daily Profit and Loss (PnL) for each business unit, while providing clear explanations of the drivers behind risk positions and PnL movements. It also ensures that all transactions and positions are correctly recorded in the bank’s accounting systems in line with applicable accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate daily T+1 P&L reports including attribution and analysis.
  • Provide commentary and investigate variances for front office traders and senior finance managers.
  • Investigate and resolve breaks such as model versus ledger cash differences and system versus trade documentation issues.
  • Address model risk control exceptions and ensure adherence to control standards.
  • Maintain compliance with internal risk and control guidelines.
  • Respond to queries from stakeholders including finance directors, onshore management, front office traders, financial control teams, and risk management.
  • Understand trade flows and booking structures to ensure trades are captured correctly for accurate funding cost allocation through funds transfer pricing.
  • Post product appropriate journals and maintain accurate financial statements including income statement and balance sheet.
  • Perform reconciliations such as management accounting versus financial accounting, front office versus back office, and balance sheet substantiation.
  • Participate in stakeholder calls and discussions.
  • Support audit and regulatory requirements when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to financial control or product control within an investment banking environment.
  • Understanding of financial market products such as loans, bonds, credit instruments, derivatives, cash equities, swaps, options, and futures.
  • Knowledge of fixed income products including bonds, CDS, TRS, IRS, and loans.
  • Familiarity with IFRS or GAAP standards is beneficial.
  • Understanding of the investment banking lifecycle from trade capture through to balance sheet reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Exposure to multiple front office systems.
