About the Role

Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) is seeking a skilled Data Centre Operation Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. This role offers the opportunity to work in some of the most advanced, high-density data centers in the world, supporting the expansion of AWS Cloud infrastructure in India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service data center infrastructure, including server rack installation and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose and resolve network issues, ensuring operational stability.
  • Act as the primary contact for internal teams (Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Developers) and external vendors.
  • Handle trouble tickets, perform on-call duties, and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and root cause analysis for operational incidents.
  • Assist in training junior technicians and support team meetings for performance metrics review.

Physical & Shift Requirements

  • Ability to lift and rack equipment weighing up to 18kg.
  • Work in confined spaces or elevated locations following health & safety guidelines.
  • Availability for 24x7 shift rotations.

Basic Qualifications

  • BE/B.Tech in IT, Information Systems, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or Electronics & Telecommunications.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration.
  • Experience in server hardware troubleshooting and boot processes (POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies) and network hardware (cabling, switches, routers).
  • Strong communication skills and passion for IT infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with remote access tools (console routers, IPMI, BMC).
  • Network equipment installation and configuration (Cisco IOS, NX-OS, JunOS).
  • Understanding of redundancy systems for power, server hardware, and network connectivity.
  • Data center operations knowledge including inventory management and security protocols.
  • Project management participation.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3).
  • Scripting ability in Bash, Python, Perl, or Ruby.
