Overview
The Finance Accounting Analyst I position is an entry level professional role. The job requires understanding the processes, procedures, and systems used to complete assigned tasks, along with a basic grasp of the concepts that support the function. The role involves evaluating factual information, resolving issues using learned experience, and following established precedents.
The individual works closely with team members and other internal groups to support finance operations. The position has a limited but direct impact on the business through the quality and accuracy of completed tasks and services.
Responsibilities
- Support the management and control of data flows within finance applications to maintain integrity and completeness of financial data.
- Prepare and record financial transactions for legal entity and regulatory reporting, update the general ledger, and assist with consolidated financial statements based on management reporting requirements.
- Handle specialized accounting activities such as equity compensation, securitization, payroll, and investment accounting when required.
- Ensure accurate reporting of accounting reconciliations using Citi reporting tools.
- Prepare accounts for assigned processes in accordance with global guidelines.
- Follow and maintain key accounting controls for the processes being handled.
- Apply disciplinary knowledge within the accounting function and a basic understanding of related industry practices to perform accounting transactions.
- Complete specific operational tasks within designated business functions as part of the team.
- Deliver routine accounting outputs and defined deliverables.
- Explain processes and related controls clearly and provide supporting documentation where required.
- Coordinate with Legal Entity Managers regarding reconciliation and accounting status.
- Escalate issues related to transactions, processes, reports, or procedures when necessary.
- Use knowledge of procedures within the area and basic awareness of related areas to resolve operational issues.
- Evaluate past or comparable situations to determine appropriate actions when procedures do not fully cover a case.
- Assess risks when making business decisions while protecting the firm’s reputation and assets, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Basic experience in accounting management through education or related experience.
Education
- Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.
