Develop software aligned with Cisco Design Thinking principles, focusing on simplification, secure coding practices, user privacy, and software engineering standards. Build applications that improve accessibility across a variety of devices and create solutions that transform how people work, live, learn, and connect.

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products. Contribute to software and tools supporting infrastructure, operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and internet-related technologies.

What You’ll Do

• Communicate project status and issues with the team.
• Share knowledge and experiences to support team objectives.
• Work on routine assignments involving foundational software engineering concepts.
• Collaborate with team members on coding and testing tasks.
• Contribute to small projects and software features.
• Learn software development lifecycle processes and agile engineering practices.
• Assist with requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and acceptance testing.
• Analyze user requirements and understand their impact on technical designs.
• Write and improve code with guidance from senior engineers.
• Support debugging, testing, and code refinement activities.
• Help with scaling and reliability testing.
• Apply secure coding standards and guidelines.
• Assist senior engineers with troubleshooting and debugging issues.

Software Engineer – Networking Protocols

• Understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering concepts.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching fundamentals.
• Exposure to routers, switches, and network debugging tools is preferred.
• Awareness of security technologies such as Firewall, IPS/IDS, VPN, IPsec, and TLS.
• Strong programming and scripting skills, especially in Python.
• Familiarity with multiple development environments.
• Interest in testing, optimization, troubleshooting, and debugging.

Software Engineer – Application Software

• Strong understanding of software engineering and computer science basics.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
• Programming and scripting experience using Python.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and design.
• Interest in scalable cloud-based applications.
• Exposure to open-source tools or mobile application development is beneficial.
• Familiarity with development and debugging tools.
• Interest in UI and UX design concepts.

Software Engineer – Embedded and Systems Development
