Cisco Customer Experience (CX) is a global organization of technical specialists focused on delivering a high quality customer experience. The team partners with leading Service Providers to address complex network transformation initiatives by designing, deploying, and optimizing next generation infrastructures built on Cisco technologies.
The SP Migration practice works on major network modernization programs worldwide, helping customers transition to advanced platforms including Cisco IOS-XR systems, IP/MPLS architectures, and cloud native networking solutions.
Your Impact
As a Consulting Engineer within the SP Migration practice, you will contribute to the lifecycle of large scale Service Provider migration projects. Working alongside experienced technical leads, you will support the design, configuration, testing, and execution of migrations across Cisco SP platforms.
- Assist in designing and implementing Service Provider network migrations, including platform upgrades, topology modifications, and protocol transitions across Cisco IOS-XR and Nexus based routers such as ASR, NCS, and Cisco 8K series.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including test plans, migration procedures (MOPs), and post migration validation reports that align with Cisco CX standards.
- Use Python scripting and automation tools to streamline repetitive migration activities and improve delivery efficiency.
- Work with cross functional teams including TAC and partner organizations to troubleshoot issues and support customers during the migration process.
- Identify potential risks, perform structured problem analysis, and provide mitigation recommendations to senior engineers and program leaders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a network engineering role.
- Active CCNA certification. CCNP Service Provider certification is preferred or currently in progress.
- 0 to 2 years of hands on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routing and switching platforms, with some exposure to IOS-XR environments.
- Understanding of Service Provider networking protocols including BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, IP/MPLS, and QoS fundamentals.
- Experience assisting with network migration tasks such as lab validation, following migration procedures, and participating in scheduled change windows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Service Provider platforms from vendors such as Juniper, Nokia, Huawei, or Arista.
- Basic Python scripting for network automation, with familiarity in tools or interfaces such as Ansible, REST APIs, or NETCONF/YANG.
- Interest in AI driven operations and awareness of how AI or ML can support network operations (AIOps).
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with customer engineering teams.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, fast moving delivery environment with a focus on continuous learning.
