Job Description
Airbus is looking for a motivated intern to support the development and deployment of an Integrated Knowledge and Reporting Platform. The role aims to bridge the gap between manual engineering analysis and automated, AI‑driven solutions.
You will work at the intersection of data science, natural language processing, and real‑time data integration to improve operational efficiency and decision‑making quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge Engineering: Load, organize, and integrate historical document repositories and discussion records into a centralized AI environment.
- AI Development: Assist in building and refining a conversational chatbot interface capable of real‑time analysis and automated drafting.
- Data Integration: Connect and process live, time‑based data streams to enable automated trend identification and root‑cause analysis.
- Performance Optimization: Implement and evaluate Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) approaches to improve response quality and reduce system errors.
- Risk and Security: Support the deployment of solutions within secure and compliant environments with attention to data privacy and local hosting needs.
The internship program is expected to run for approximately six months and is planned to start in July 2026, with some flexibility on the start date.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Data Science and AI: Proficiency in Python and experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs). Familiarity with Retrieval‑Augmented Generation is desirable.
- Time‑Series Analysis: Ability to process and interpret time‑based engineering datasets to detect trends and root causes.
- Cloud and Deployment: Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or GPU‑based on‑premise environments for model deployment.
- Data Engineering: Capability to structure unstructured historical documents into searchable, machine‑readable datasets.
Domain Knowledge
- Aerospace Awareness: Basic familiarity with flight control laws to support collaboration with engineering teams.
- Analytical Validation: Ability to verify AI‑generated outputs and perform root‑cause analysis aligned with engineering standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work with data scientists and control law engineers to convert technical insights into structured technical documentation.
This role requires awareness of compliance risks and a commitment to integrity as part of Airbus' focus on sustainable growth and responsible operations.
