Eligibility
- You must be enrolled in a B.E. or B.Tech and be in the pre-final or final year. For the 2026-27 edition, that means those years during academic year 2026-27.
- You need proof of enrolment, such as your college ID card. Every team member uploads one with the application.
- Teams can have 1 to 5 members, and all of them must meet the eligibility rule. You can't change the team after registering without permission from the InnoVent team.
- The main contest is for students in India. The 2026-27 edition also accepted overseas teams "subject to conditions", with a later deadline of 5 October 2026.
- The judges score "diversity of ideas", which includes gender diversity within the team.
Stages and format
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Stage 1: Project registration | You fill in a one-sitting application form: team details, problem, proposed solution, technologies, and a Google Drive link with a presentation, prototype images or video, and ID cards. Entries go through a plagiarism check and expert review. |
| Stage 2: Virtual POC presentation | Shortlisted teams present a technical deck and a virtual proof of concept to Tata Technologies experts, followed by Q&A. |
| Stage 3: Final demo day | Finalists get 2 to 3 months to build a physical or working prototype and demo it to a jury at an in-person event. Past finales were held at Tata Technologies' Hinjewadi head office in Pune with the top 10 teams. |
Projects are judged on novelty, how feasible a prototype is, future impact and scalability, and diversity of ideas. The form can't be saved halfway, so prepare the presentation, the demo video and all ID cards before you start.

How to apply
- Watch the InnoVent page from late May. The "Register now" button opens the project application form when entries open.
- Pick a problem from that year's list. In 2026-27 these ranged from Edge AI for ADAS and electric mobility to aircraft inspection and operator safety on heavy machines.
- Make the presentation with the slides the rules ask for: problem and market size, approach, solution, challenges, technical implementation, results, a recorded demo, future work and a project plan.
- Put the deck, demo video and every member's college ID in one Google Drive folder named after your team, shared as "Anyone with the link".
- Fill in the form in one sitting. You get a confirmation email with a registration ID. Questions go to InnoVent@tatatechnologies.com.
