DRDO SSPL 6-Month Paid Internship Program Guide

The Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, invites applications for its 6-month Paid Internship Program. This opportunity is for students pursuing studies in physics, electronics, materials science, and allied disciplines.

About SSPL Internship Program

The internship offers young and dynamic students hands-on exposure to research in:

Interns work at the Solid State Physics Laboratory, located at Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi – 110054. They gain experience in material preparation, device fabrication, and circuit design.

Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply:
Candidates must be currently pursuing one of the following degrees:

• B.E./B.Tech. in Physics, Electronics, Electrical, Materials Science, Semiconductor Devices, Quantum Technology, or relevant fields.
• M.Sc./M.Tech. in related disciplines mentioned above.

Note: The degree should be ongoing at the time of application. Fresh graduates or pass-outs are not eligible.

Stipend Details

• Fixed Monthly Stipend: ₹5,000/-
• The total ₹30,000 stipend is paid in two equal installments:
  • ₹15,000 after completing 3 months
  • ₹15,000 after completing 6 months

Other Expenses:

• No reimbursement for travel, accommodation, food, or medical costs.
• Interns must make their own arrangements.

Key Instructions and Guidelines

• Internship Duration: 6 months fixed. Requests for extension (up to 6 months only) are considered on case-by-case basis.
• Stipend beyond 6 months: Not applicable under any condition.
• No Accommodation: DRDO does not provide any lodging facilities.
• Leave Policy: Only sick leave with a valid prescription is allowed. No casual leave permitted.
• Working Hours: As per lab norms. Attendance mandatory.
• No Guarantee of Employment: Completion of internship does not guarantee any future job in DRDO.
• Confidentiality Clause: Interns are subject to Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923 and must not publish/share any sensitive data on any platform.
• Restricted Access: Interns are allowed access to only non-classified lab areas.
• Equipment Use: Any damage to DRDO property during the internship is chargeable to the intern.
• Police Verification: Required before joining if selected.
• Application Rejection: Incomplete, unsigned, or late applications are summarily rejected.
• Communication: All updates including interview calls are shared via email only.
