About the Role
The Data Science Internship at Weir offers a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge in real-world industrial scenarios. As an intern, you will contribute to the organization’s data-driven transformation by performing analytical tasks, building predictive models, and generating insights that support key business decisions. This is especially vital in the context of mining manufacturing where efficiency, innovation, and sustainability are crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover meaningful patterns and insights
- Conduct capability testing of modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Databricks
- Design and develop evaluation frameworks for Agentic AI Systems
- Assist in building frameworks for reusable design patterns in Generative AI product development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and translate business requirements into data solutions
- Document methodologies, findings, and code to ensure reproducibility and transparency
- Demonstrate full commitment to Weir's zero harm safety principles and contribute to a world-class safety culture
Eligibility Criteria
Education Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering or related fields
- Must be available for a full-time internship for a duration of 2 months
Skills Required
Technical Skills:
Python, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, SQL, Generative AI, Data Visualization
Other Requirements:
- Basic understanding of statistics and machine learning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Exposure to Generative AI is a plus
- Familiarity with data tools like Microsoft Fabric and Databricks is preferred
