What You Will Do

Within Logistics International - Transport Operations, India, you will support transport operations and contribute to improving logistics activities. The role focuses on coordinating transport bookings and tracking shipments from suppliers to plants in Bangalore using digital platforms and Transport Management Systems (TMS). Maintaining the accuracy and quality of transactional logistics data is also part of the responsibility.

Your Future Team

Logistics International - Transport Operations, India is part of the Trucks Technology & Industrial Division within Volvo Group. The organization works globally to deliver logistics solutions that ensure packaging availability, material transportation to production facilities, and distribution of vehicles and equipment to customers. The team also supports supply chain design, logistics planning for new products, and the Sales & Operations Planning process.

Transport Operations India is responsible for managing domestic and international transportation of materials to Volvo Group production units and joint ventures across India. The team also handles distribution of vehicles and construction equipment to dealers and customers, and manages product transit yards and cross docks for materials.

Role Description

  • Coordinate with approved liners, forwarders, transporters, CHA partners, overseas offices, and customers for sea, air, and surface freight movement.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to support day-to-day logistics requirements.
  • Monitor end-to-end shipment activities including transportation, customs clearance, freight handling, and delivery.
  • Receive pre-arrival notifications from logistics service providers and coordinate delivery slots.
  • Support transport operations using Transport Management Systems such as ATLAS, XTR, and A4D.
  • Manage delivery of commodities and shipments from ports to customer or consignee warehouse facilities.
  • Track and maintain logistics KPIs by recording and formalizing operational metrics.
  • Prepare and review documentation related to customs, insurance, packing specifications, and international compliance.
  • Arrange air transport for urgent or high value shipments while managing associated risks.
  • Identify potential operational or transport risks and plan preventive actions.
  • Coordinate special arrangements for delicate cargo, dangerous goods, or over-dimensional cargo.
  • Maintain communication throughout shipment journeys and contribute to management reporting.
  • Work with transportation and shipping teams to identify shipments at risk of delayed delivery.
  • Follow escalation processes for deviations and service issues.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings, VPS activities, and 5S initiatives.
  • Monitor pre-carriage, freight, and on-carriage activities along with associated costs through TMS.
  • Communicate with overseas Volvo plants, suppliers, and customers for import and export flows.

Competence

  • Graduate from a university or college with BE, B.Tech, B.Sc, B.Com, or BBA in Operations.
  • Certification in Analytics or Foreign Trade is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to use Office365 applications for automation and improvement activities.
  • Capability to analyze logistics service provider performance.
  • Understanding of data handling and digital tools used in logistics processes.
