About the Role
As a Software Engineer Apprentice at Trellix, you will participate in a 12-month program designed to build foundational technical skills, hands-on experience, and industry knowledge. This role is ideal for recent graduates eager to begin a career in cybersecurity and software development. Apprentices will work closely with experienced engineers, contribute to real projects, and receive mentorship throughout the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that fulfills functional requirements
- Apply object-oriented design principles and use software design patterns
- Participate in peer code reviews and collaborate with senior engineers
- Develop and execute unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality
- Collaborate with automation engineers to design automated functional tests
- Contribute to Windows and Linux platform development with strong coding practices
- Build automation frameworks using Python or similar technologies
- Work with virtual environments such as VM-Workstation and ESX server
- Explore cloud services and develop using technologies like AWS
- Contribute to secure coding practices, security testing, and internal tooling
- Engage with global teams on engineering, security, and DevOps best practices
- Document processes and continuously improve development and deployment workflows
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in at least one language: C++, Java, or Python
- Understanding of data structures, computer networks, operating systems, and RDBMS concepts
- Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio, WinDbg, or other debuggers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exposure to cybersecurity concepts and dynamic analysis tools is a plus
- Knowledge or experience in AWS/cloud technologies and machine learning is advantageous
