Datavail is seeking a motivated MSSQL Trainee DBA to join its Data Engineering Global Practice. In this role, you will work with modern cloud technologies while supporting database environments across multiple customers and domains.

Role Overview

This position involves working with on-premise and cloud database environments and supporting production and non-production systems. The role operates within a global delivery model and provides exposure to large-scale database management and monitoring.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• 0 to 2 years of experience or knowledge in MSSQL DBA or cloud administration with Azure or AWS.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as ServiceNow, SQL Sentry, or Jira.
• Understanding of ITIL V4 concepts.
• Monitoring SQL Server environments including versions 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and later.
• Knowledge of SQL Server features and service packs within Windows environments.
• Awareness of MSSQL capabilities for both on-prem and cloud deployments including Azure VM, Azure Managed Instance, and SQL Database.
• Exposure to AWS services such as EC2 and RDS is beneficial.
• Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery technologies including Windows Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, and Always On.
• Knowledge of MSBI components including Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Analysis Services.
• Strong understanding of T-SQL concepts such as DDL, DML, TCL, stored procedures, triggers, functions, indexes, views, and DMVs.
• Basic understanding of performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience or knowledge of scripting and automation using T-SQL, PowerShell, or Python.
• Exposure to third-party tools such as DPA, Rubrik, CommVault, Veeam, LiteSpeed, IBM Tivoli, RedGate, or SolarWinds is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Azure AI and machine learning tools is beneficial.
• Microsoft, Azure, or AWS certifications are considered a plus.

Role and Responsibilities

• Work within a 24x7 support environment.
• Monitor ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and provide L1 support for database environments.
• Manage and resolve database-related incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
• Review daily reports related to disk space, backups, and alerts to ensure timely resolution of service issues.
• Respond to database alerts and escalations while collaborating with the Technical Operations team to address recurring issues.
• Support high availability technologies including AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering, database mirroring, replication, and log shipping.
• Create, manage, and monitor SQL jobs across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Configure and monitor database and server maintenance jobs and alerts.
• Perform backup and restore operations for on-premise and cloud storage systems.
• Assist with enhancements using Azure and AWS AI tools.
• Ensure adherence to IT standards, audit requirements, and compliance policies.
