Job Summary

Rackspace is seeking a motivated fresher to join our Public Cloud - Offerings and Delivery team as a Trainee Cloud Database Engineer. The role involves performing database engineering and administration tasks, adhering to company security policies, and staying updated with industry trends.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases.
• Work with public cloud hyperscale portals for database operations.
• Utilize automation tools and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Shell Scripts, TSQL, PLSQL) along with cloud-native tools like Terraform and Git/GitHub.
• Monitor database performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks.
• Support backup and recovery processes, including disaster recovery.
• Implement and maintain database security, managing user access and permissions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations and procedures.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders.
• Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on database technologies and best practices.
• Participate in rotational shifts and 24x7 production support for database infrastructure.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, and ACID properties.
• Proficiency in SQL fundamentals, including DML and DDL statements.
• Knowledge of public cloud platforms and cloud databases (PaaS and IaaS).
• Familiarity with different database types: relational, document, graph, and key-value pair databases.
• Basic database design principles and schema creation.
• Understanding of backup strategies, recovery models, and restoration processes.
• Fundamentals of database security, authentication, and authorization.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts, RTO, and RPO.
