About the Role
Amazon is seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer 1 to innovate and enhance the eBook and Kindle subscription purchasing experience for customers. As part of the Digital Book Store Service team, you will be responsible for building scalable, frictionless digital purchase solutions that can be leveraged across multiple Amazon digital businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust solutions for broadly defined problems.
- Promote best practices and engineering excellence across the team.
- Collaborate with peers to develop architecture and design for new and existing systems.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
- Pursuing or completed Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of core computer science concepts including algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and databases.
- Ability to write clean, efficient code in C/C++ or Java within a Linux environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ and/or Java on UNIX/Linux).
- Experience with Perl or other scripting languages.
- Background in distributed systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
- Knowledge of optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
- Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
- Experience handling ambiguous problems and thinking abstractly.
- Previous technical internship experience is a plus.
