S&P Global is Hiring Apprentice, Metals & Mining (Data Operations) in Ahmedabad

About the Role:

The Metals & Mining Industry Content team collects data for the global mining industry, covering everything from early-stage exploration projects to active mines and processing facilities. This also includes data for drill intersections at covered mine properties, plus the compilation of mining and exploration claims/leases spatial data for numerous countries. We have global coverage of over 60 commodities and more than 40,000 properties/projects. Our offices in India, Manila, Islamabad, and Halifax work collaboratively to publish data in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner, assisting clients in making informed business decisions.

Our department provides quality, timely, and comprehensive data, with Data Analysts performing key tasks in data collection, maintenance, and processing. We serve both internal and external clients who utilize our data for sound and efficient business analysis and decision-making, and for evaluating the global mining sector and metals market with essential intelligence. Analysts will use our proprietary work tools and will be responsible for the daily maintenance of data sets.

Eligibility criteria for the Apprentice role:

• Candidates must not be currently registered on the NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme) portal as apprentices.
• Candidates should not have an active UAN/PF account.

Responsibilities:

• Perform straightforward, stand-alone tasks or transactions following detailed instructions and predefined procedures.
• Enter and edit data in work tools according to specified guidelines and checklists.
• Capture comprehensive information on data tracked by the Metals & Mining Industry Content Department.
• Create daily reports of work performed using reporting tools, which also involves extracting and validating data errors.
• Review feedback related to content to help correct errors and establish or refine procedures to improve accuracy.
• Deliver on predefined individual and team targets, ensuring quality and excellence in outcomes.
• Work within your own team and potentially interact with other related teams. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to understand processes and procedures.
• Work with other related teams to complete assigned tasks, operating within parameters and with supervision to ensure quality and performance meet set standards.
• Stay updated on knowledge of content sets and build expertise in the Mining industry and reporting standards.
• Enhance learning by completing Learning Xchange and other learning modules for policy compliance.
• Foster innovation by identifying enhancement initiatives that support our LEAN and Automation philosophy.
• Contribute to the achievement of personal and team objectives.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

• Fresh graduates/postgraduates with a Geology background (B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Geology/Geoinformatics) with a passing year of 2025 or 2026.
• The primary working shift will be a regular day shift, but candidates should be willing to work rotational shifts based on business requirements.
• Effective communication skills (written & verbal) and sound computer skills are prerequisites for these positions.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment, while maintaining a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.
• Comfortable taking initiative and demonstrating resourcefulness.
• Strong attention to detail and a persistent approach to work.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpretive skills.
