About the Role
S&P Global Market Intelligence is hiring a Data Analyst (Language Expert – Chinese/Mandarin) for the Private Markets Data Operations team. The team builds private market datasets focused on accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of insights across global markets.
In this role, you will support Chinese-language data collection, validation, and analysis related to private companies, investors, funds, and transactions across Greater China markets.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection and Validation
- Collect, interpret, and verify Mandarin-language data from company websites, disclosures, news sources, and regulatory registries.
- Translate and standardize Chinese-language information into English while maintaining accuracy and context.
- Maintain coverage of mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese entities.
- Ensure datasets meet editorial and compliance standards.
Data Quality and Maintenance
- Perform data cleansing and validation to maintain consistency and completeness.
- Resolve discrepancies related to translations, naming conventions, and regional reporting practices.
- Document China-focused data collection methodologies for audit and future reference.
Analysis and Reporting
- Prepare routine reports and conduct trend analysis on China-related private market data.
- Support ad-hoc analytical requests involving ownership structures, market activity, and investments.
Automation and Process Improvement
- Assist in automating data collection and reporting workflows using SQL and Excel.
- Use GenAI tools for exploratory analysis, translation validation, and entity recognition.
- Contribute ideas to improve workflow efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
Collaboration
- Work with global teams to achieve quality and timeliness targets.
- Support process improvement initiatives and new data collection strategies.
- Troubleshoot data issues and share insights related to regional market developments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, including reading, writing, and comprehension.
- Understanding of Greater China business practices, corporate structures, and regulatory environments.
- Experience using Chinese-language public records and media sources.
- Working knowledge of Excel and SQL, with exposure to Power BI or Tableau considered beneficial.
- Awareness of compliance requirements in data collection and reporting.
- Exposure to Lean methodologies, automation, or data operations workflows is preferred.
- Ability to use GenAI tools for research and analysis.
