About the Role

S&P Global is seeking a detail-focused Data Analyst to join the Private Markets Data Operations team in Mumbai. This position is suited for early-career professionals interested in building expertise in Private Equity data, financial statements, fund structures, and analytical processes.

The Impact

You will support the collection, validation, analysis, and maintenance of high-quality datasets sourced from Private Equity and alternative investment documents. The work contributes directly to accurate and timely market data used by global clients for benchmarking and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Process and review financial documents from General and Limited Partners, including capital calls, distributions, financial statements, and investment schedules.
  • Access GP portals and repositories to download, classify, and tag fund-related documents with correct metadata.
  • Extract, standardize, and validate data from Private Equity documents such as capital account statements, cash flow reports, and investment schedules.
  • Classify accounting breakouts and identify data related to fund-level investments and portfolio companies.
  • Perform quality checks, resolve exceptions from QC reviews and automated validations, and ensure compliance with data standards.
  • Prepare routine reports and conduct basic trend analysis for operational insights.
  • Support data cleansing activities to improve consistency and accuracy.
  • Assist with process improvement and automation initiatives, including SQL-based data tasks.
  • Maintain documentation for data collection and validation processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve quality and delivery targets.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects related to automation, data enhancement, and business growth.

Domain Knowledge and Skills

Basic understanding of Private Equity, Real Estate, or alternative investment operations is preferred. Familiarity with fund accounting, investor reporting concepts, and capital markets is an advantage.

Experience

  • 0 to 1 year of experience in Fund Administration, Private Equity Operations, or Financial Data Processing.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and Python, with familiarity in BI tools considered beneficial.
  • Exposure to automation, Lean methodologies, or GenAI tools is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven team environment and support global shift schedules.

Shift and Work Schedule

  • The role follows a global delivery model and may require rotational shifts aligned with Asia, EMEA, and US business hours.
  • Extended working hours may be required during quarter-end or year-end reporting periods.
