About the Role
The Analyst will support senior analysts within the Research and Design team to develop new S&P Dow Jones Indices in the Equities Value stream. This includes working on innovative product types such as factor, dividend, thematic, digital asset, AI, and sustainability indices. The role requires familiarity with index and portfolio construction methods and the financial theories behind them.
A strong quantitative background, programming ability, and the capacity to manage large datasets are important for this role. The analyst will also communicate insights and conclusions clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
The Team
The Global Research and Design team focuses on creating innovative index solutions backed by rigorous research and data analysis. Analysts collaborate with senior experts to transform investment objectives into systematic index strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with research and development of new index concepts.
- Access, clean, and transform complex datasets from multiple providers.
- Develop a solid understanding of available financial data and the processes behind it.
- Back test index strategies to evaluate how well they meet investment objectives.
- Use programming to ensure reliable and efficient index design.
- Create internal tools and platforms that automate recurring processes and strengthen team capabilities.
- Prepare finalized index methodology documents for external use.
- Develop and update presentation materials for internal discussions and external events.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams across Global Research and Design and other departments to manage projects related to new index development.
- Handle multiple assignments while meeting project deadlines.
- Communicate findings and progress clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong proficiency in Python. Candidates will complete a Python assessment during the application process.
- Understanding of asset classes and financial theories used in portfolio and index construction.
- Master's degree preferred, ideally in computer science, mathematics, engineering, economics, or finance.
- Interest in pursuing the CFA program.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving skills for complex, non routine challenges.
