About the Team

The Marketing Technology team manages more than 90 percent of Pearson’s web properties and eCommerce platforms. PMC is one of Pearson’s core global technology platforms and operates as a distributed, multi-tenant solution that supports digital commerce and web content delivery.

The platform processes over 90 percent of Pearson’s global eCommerce revenue and supports the majority of the company’s web traffic worldwide. The team operates large-scale content and commerce platforms across the full technology stack and is transitioning toward headless, API-first, cloud-native, and microservices-based architectures.

Role Overview

As a Marketing Technology Apprentice, you will gain practical experience working with enterprise-scale eCommerce platforms that enable direct-to-consumer sales. The role involves collaborating with project teams, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to support the development and improvement of eCommerce applications.

During the apprenticeship, you will build foundational knowledge of platform architecture, integrations, and digital commerce technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and perform unit testing for modules using technologies such as Java, Spring, and Node.js.
• Ensure code follows quality standards, coding guidelines, and defined technical requirements.
• Follow established development frameworks, technical practices, and coding standards within the project.
• Work closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to support implementation and clarify requirements.

Skills and Knowledge

• Basic understanding of Java, Spring, Node.js, and REST API development.
• Interest in learning and working with eCommerce technologies.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and relational databases.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting approaches, logging, and monitoring tools.
• Exposure to enterprise platforms such as BigCommerce, Sift, OFAC compliance systems, and address validation services like AddressDoctor.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time apprenticeship, Monday to Friday, approximately 40 hours per week. Some schedule flexibility may be required to coordinate with global teams across different time zones.
