Responsibilities

• Handle patent docketing activities, including tracking deadlines, filings, and office action responses to help maintain 3M’s patent rights.
• Review and evaluate incoming patent communications to determine required actions and prepare suitable responses.
• Support the preparation and completion of Information Disclosure Statements (IDS). This includes reviewing source documents, cross-referencing records, adding related art, sourcing reference copies, formatting and embedding documents, reviewing citation matrices, and drafting or editing cover letters.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies by interpreting data, using internal and external resources, and researching relevant government rules and guidelines.
• Work with internal stakeholders to support information management, data handling, and search requirements. Participation in cross-functional or cross-divisional projects may be required.
• Document and maintain all instructions received from stakeholders to ensure accurate recordkeeping and traceability.
• Collaborate with IP liaisons and patent attorneys as part of the overall intellectual property management process.
