Order Engineer at Emerson (Chennai) | ₹4-6 LPA

The Order Engineer position is based in FCEC Chennai, India. As an Order Engineer supporting Middle East and Africa, you will review customer purchase orders from Sales and LBP teams, transform them into accurate Bills of Materials (BOM), and release orders to MEA factories. You will also drive continuous improvement on metrics and ensure accurately detailed technical order constructions in business systems at all stages of manufacturing.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Perform detailing activities necessary to communicate an accurate Bill of Materials to Manufacturing.
• Review Sales/LBP orders for completeness of technical requirements for MEA sourced Project and MRO orders. Provide feedback to Sales/LBPs in case of any technical discrepancies.
• Communicate with internal sales team, LBPs, Global Industry Sales, R&D Engineering, and Project management to ensure proper form, fit, and function for the bill of materials provided.
• Verify the completeness and correctness of product structure against technical specs and ensure the selected product is suitable for the service.
• Monitor order progress and escalate issues to ensure timely release of items to manufacturing.
• Take ownership of completed work through the production process, including items in manufacturing, assembly, and Bill of Materials related questions.
• Support order engineers in preparing Bills of Materials for special valve construction and initiate requests to R&D Engineering for new drawings as needed.
• Support change order owner in determining change order charges and delivery impact.
• Work with Sales, operations, and other internal functions on customer requirements and resolve issues.
• Provide timely responses to order enquiries and act as a point of escalation when necessary.
• Prepare monthly reports addressing unclean orders, new design requests, new part number creations with customer-specific processing, change order reports, and right first-time issue reports.
• Participate in continuous process improvements focused on systems and reporting.

Who You Are:

As an Order Engineer, you will handle MEA sourced Project and MRO orders, supporting the Order Engineering team for the MEA World Area. You will configure and detail orders accurately and timely to release work orders to MEA manufacturing sites. You will analyze orders, identify errors preventing order progression, communicate discrepancies, and take necessary actions to find solutions.

You must understand Bills of Materials and configure products to communicate customer requirements to MEA sourced manufacturing sites. You will be responsible and accountable for the effective execution of Emerson valve orders within your areas of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Chemical Engineering.
• Experience in a highly mechanical, design, or technology focused role.
• Minimum 0-2 years of overall experience.
• Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, JDE, Microsoft, or any other ERP system is mandatory.
• General understanding of quote-to-cash processes.
• Mechanical/technical drawing interpretation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
