Role Overview

Nasuni is hiring an Associate Software Engineer – Systems (Platform) to join the Platform Engineering team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on developing and improving the Linux-based foundation of Nasuni’s NAS appliance platform using Python and C++. The platform runs across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

This early-career role is designed for engineers who have strong fundamentals in operating systems, data structures, and systems programming, and who are interested in working close to Linux and system-level behavior. It suits engineers who want to understand how large-scale infrastructure systems function in production environments.

This position is intended for developers interested in systems, platforms, and infrastructure software rather than frontend or application-only development.

Level & Scope

In this role, you will contribute to component-level development within platform subsystems while working under the guidance of senior engineers. The position helps build core skills in Linux systems, storage technologies, and platform reliability.

You will also participate in diagnosing real-world issues across operating system and system layers, gradually growing from executing scoped tasks to contributing to system behavior and performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Linux-based systems software using C++ and Python
• Create scripts and automation tooling using Bash or similar scripting languages
• Assist with debugging issues across Linux OS, filesystem, and networking layers
• Contribute to system packaging, deployment, and lifecycle management workflows
• Write and maintain automated tests using pytest or comparable frameworks
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with the engineering team
• Collaborate with QA and senior engineers to diagnose and resolve issues
• Use AI-assisted tools such as code assistants or log analysis tools to support debugging and development while validating outputs

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• B.Tech or BE in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 0 to 2 years of experience, including internships or significant academic projects
• Strong programming ability in Python or C/C++
• Solid understanding of operating systems and data structures and algorithms
• Hands-on exposure to Linux through academic work or personal projects
• Experience building at least one substantial technical project
• Strong debugging and problem-solving ability

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Linux internals such as processes, memory management, or file systems
• Experience with shell scripting using Bash
• Familiarity with filesystems such as ext4 or XFS
• Exposure to virtualization technologies or cloud environments
• Experience using Git and basic CI workflows
