Job Overview

iCIMS is looking for a Data Engineer who is motivated to learn and contribute within a modern cloud based data engineering environment. The role suits candidates with a strong foundation in programming and data concepts who want practical experience building, maintaining, and improving large scale data pipelines and analytics platforms.

You will gain exposure to enterprise cloud data systems, real data challenges, SaaS integrations, and analytics use cases. The position includes mentorship from experienced data engineers and architects while collaborating with business teams to design, implement, and operate reliable data solutions.

The role requires curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn from feedback while balancing technical execution with collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL and ELT pipelines that process structured and semi structured data.
• Support data ingestion and transformation workflows across cloud platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, Amazon S3, and Redshift.
• Write and maintain SQL queries for data transformation, validation, reconciliation, and analytics.
• Contribute to data solutions using medallion architecture concepts including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Support data modeling, profiling, parsing, and migration tasks.
• Monitor pipelines to identify data quality issues, determine root causes, and support remediation.
• Create and maintain automated tests and reconciliation scripts to improve reliability.
• Participate in proofs of concept, pilot projects, and prototypes while helping define metrics and success criteria.
• Work with senior engineers to follow DevOps practices such as version control, CI/CD, and environment management.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and clearly communicate outcomes.
• Support integrations with platforms like Salesforce, NetSuite, APIs, and other SaaS systems to enable reliable data ingestion and analytics.
• Apply data privacy, governance, and security practices in daily work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic understanding of data engineering technologies and pipeline concepts.
• Hands on experience with SQL and relational data principles.
• Programming knowledge in languages such as Python, Java, Scala, Ruby, or similar.
• Understanding of ETL workflows and working with large datasets.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms through coursework, projects, or professional work.
• Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and work independently with guidance.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to Databricks, Apache Spark, or distributed data processing frameworks.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory.
• Experience working with Salesforce or CRM related data.
• Knowledge of data quality practices, profiling methods, and validation approaches.
• Experience with messaging or integration platforms such as Kafka or MuleSoft.
• Familiarity with Alteryx or other data preparation tools.
• Awareness of data privacy regulations and governance practices.
• Interest in analytics, reporting, and enabling data driven decisions.
