About the Job

As a Silicon Engineering Intern, you will contribute to teams shaping the future of Google Cloud Silicon, including TPUs, Arm-based servers, and networking products. You will work alongside hardware and software architects and designers to architect, model, analyze, define, and develop next generation cloud silicon.

The role involves responsibilities across product definition, design, and implementation. Interns collaborate with engineering teams to balance performance, power consumption, features, timelines, and cost while building advanced computing platforms.

The ML, Systems, and Cloud AI (MSCA) organization develops and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure powering Google services such as Search and YouTube, as well as Google Cloud. The organization focuses on security, efficiency, and reliability while advancing hyperscale computing.

Google engineers work on large scale systems, storage solutions, and new developer platforms used by billions of people. Teams contribute across products including Google Ads, Chrome, Android, YouTube, and many other technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, Verilog, or UVM, along with Synopsys or Cadence tools.
  • Experience in areas such as hardware system integration, product design, computer architecture, digital design verification, digital circuits, ASIC physical design, FPGA development, embedded systems, or memory systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using performance modeling tools, C++, Python, or silicon design tools in front end design, verification, or physical design.
  • Understanding of arithmetic units, bus architectures, accelerators, memory hierarchies, computer architecture, linear algebra, or ML and DL concepts.
  • Knowledge of high performance and low power design techniques.
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in India and available to work full time for 12 weeks outside of academic term time.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities may differ depending on the team and project assignment.
  • Work with engineering teams to support silicon architecture, modeling, design, and analysis for future cloud infrastructure products.
