Rec & Proofing Analyst 1
The Rec & Proofing Analyst 1 is a trainee professional role responsible for supporting daily reconciliation activities across market-related products, including ETD and OTC reconciliation processes. This role requires a good understanding of reconciliation processes, procedures, controls, and systems used to complete assigned tasks, along with a basic understanding of the underlying business concepts and principles.
The candidate will support reconciliation activities for market products, including trade, position, cash, client money, non-segregated, intercompany, and exception management processes, as applicable. Basic knowledge of ETD / OTC business flows, market operations, and trade lifecycle concepts will be preferred, as the role involves working closely with business partners, operations teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reconciliation outcomes.
The role also requires working knowledge of reconciliation platforms such as TLM, along with strong Excel skills to support data review, investigation, reporting, and exception analysis. Familiarity with Copilot or other AI-enabled tools will be an added advantage, especially for improving productivity, summarizing information, identifying patterns, and supporting process efficiency within approved control and governance guidelines.
The analyst should have a good understanding of how the team interacts with other groups to achieve the objectives of the area. They are expected to make evaluative judgments based on factual information, identify issues, and select appropriate solutions by applying acquired technical knowledge, training, and guidance from established precedents.
The candidate must be able to communicate information in a clear, concise, and logical manner, while being sensitive to audience diversity and stakeholder expectations. The role has a direct but limited impact on the business through the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of tasks performed. The impact of the job holder is primarily restricted to their own responsibilities, with a strong focus on execution quality, control discipline, and timely exception resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Daily reconciliation of general ledger balances to the sub-ledger.
- Preparation of reconciliation packages.
- Identify and clear accounting exceptions and mismatched items.
- Analyze reoccurring issues and assist in developing process improvements.
- Monitor the status of aged breaks on balance sheet accounts.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding the proper application of accounting principles to reconciliations.
- Effectively communicate with team members, management, and business partners.
- Respond to Balance Sheet Substantiation team requests for information.
- Ensure financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Participate in and/or lead projects as assigned.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
