Meet the Team

The Catalyst Engineering IOS XE Platform Independent team builds high-performance system software for Cisco Enterprise Switching and Routing platforms. The software forms a critical foundation of IOS XE and powers networking capabilities across a wide range of Cisco platforms. You will work alongside experienced engineers and a strong technical community while gaining exposure to networking, operating systems, and platform software.

Your Impact

As a Software Engineer, you will develop and integrate software components for IOS XE platforms. You will write and debug C code on Linux-based systems while building a solid understanding of networking protocols and system software. You will work with senior engineers to develop, test, troubleshoot, and deliver high-quality software, gaining hands-on experience with IOS XE, networking technologies, Linux, and platform software.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in C with an understanding of software development fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals and networking protocols.
• Hands-on knowledge of Linux operating systems and basic Linux troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python for automation or prototyping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic or project experience in C programming, Linux, or networking.
• Understanding of L2/L3 networking concepts, QoS, ACLs, or routing protocols.
• Exposure to operating system concepts such as processes, memory management, IPC, and concurrency.
• Experience with debugging tools and software development environments.
• Strong interest in learning networking and system software technologies.
