About the Role
IBM is seeking motivated and skilled interns specializing in automation for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). This role involves working on the PowerVS Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform to ensure reliability, resiliency, and secure offerings for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain automation code for PowerVS Data Center build, operations, and support tasks.
- Automate data collection, logs processing, infrastructure monitoring, and backup/restore processes for critical configuration data.
- Reduce manual tasks through scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Ansible, and related tools.
- Perform code stack updates on infrastructure systems, including VIOS, firmware, PowerVC, HMC, Novalink, and NIM servers, as well as cloud support systems.
- Manage and maintain stock images offered in PowerVS environments.
- Remotely administer AIX and Linux servers, including user and password management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Strong experience in scripting/coding for IBM Power systems administration.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash scripting, Ansible, and related automation tools.
- Knowledge of AIX/Linux administration, commands, and networking.
- Experience with Redhat OpenShift, Kubernetes, DevOps, CI/CD, and Terraform.
- Effective communication skills and a proactive automation mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IBM AIX, VIOS, PowerVC configuration and tuning.
- Familiarity with IBM Cloud CLI, APIs, Terraform.
- Knowledge of IBM Power Systems, IBM Storage Systems, Cisco ACI, and Juniper vSRX.
- Understanding of system monitoring tools such as Nagios and ELK stack.
