Job Description

Amazon is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join as Applied Scientist Interns. This internship is ideal for candidates excited about developing cutting-edge solutions in Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Computer Vision (CV) using large-scale datasets. As an intern, you'll be solving real-world challenges at scale—often for the first time in the industry.

You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and interdisciplinary team composed of world-class researchers and engineers. This role provides a unique opportunity to drive innovations, design novel algorithms, and influence real-world products that impact millions of customers.

Responsibilities

• Apply statistical modeling and ML techniques to build intelligent customer-facing applications.
• Distill complex problem statements into actionable insights and deliver pragmatic solutions.
• Collaborate across teams with researchers and engineers to deploy solutions in real-world systems.
• Design and implement novel prototypes and transition them to scalable production systems.
• Conduct research leveraging state-of-the-art academic and industrial methods or your own novel ideas.

Internship Guidelines

• Internship requires full-time commitment—no academic projects, exams, or employment during the internship period.
• Any exam schedules must be communicated in advance to the hiring manager.
• A declaration of availability, signed by a competent university authority, will be required upon confirmation.
• Internship dates and team-specific norms will be communicated by the reporting manager.

Basic Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative field.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated research experience in Machine Learning, NLP, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, or Data Science.
• Publications or presentations in top-tier conferences such as ICML, NIPS, CVPR, ICASSP, KDD.
