Job Description

The Business Method Engineer (BME) deploys, maintains, and supports reliable and efficient production solutions for Operations. The role helps ensure integrated industrial processes that contribute to operational excellence and strengthen the company’s competitiveness and profitability.

As an ME Digital Sustainability Project Leader, the objective is to assist the manufacturing community and operational sites in achieving the company’s sustainability targets within the required timelines. The role drives digital transformation by improving data acquisition and management, building interfaces for end users, and promoting structured data management practices across business lines.

The mission also supports Airbus in achieving decarbonization goals while managing risks linked to environmental KPIs. The position contributes to developing and organizing a global support network for the relevant digital tools used across sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the business in defining requirements for environmental data acquisition, including strategies for temporary or continuous measurement across industrial operations.
  • Assess existing data availability and identify gaps in environmental data collection.
  • Create action plans to address data gaps and improve measurement coverage.
  • Support and monitor metering deployment projects across operational sites.
  • Improve processes and methods for data acquisition, from device installation to integration with information management platforms and maintenance workflows.
  • Develop project plans, including OBS and WBS structures, to meet environmental data acquisition needs.
  • Standardize metering installation processes and formalize them across business lines using frameworks such as SIPOC and RASCI.
  • Prepare communication materials and reporting packs for senior management.
  • Document guidelines for environmental data acquisition and integrate them into operational processes.
  • Track site metering projects to ensure adherence to milestones and budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontracted resources involved in project delivery.
  • Promote collaboration across environmental, operational, and digital teams.

The project leader works in coordination with the Industrial Digital Strategy Leader to ensure alignment with broader Airbus digital initiatives and sustainability strategies.

Additional Contribution

  • Support production system maturity targets and assist program ramp-up activities.

Required Technical Expertise

  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals including lean manufacturing principles, manufacturing and assembly concepts, data analysis, data mining, and sustainability topics.
  • Experience in project management practices.

Good to Have

  • Basic awareness of aircraft systems and components.
  • Understanding of metering systems.
