The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, is inviting applications for its Drone Technology Internship Program scheduled from June 23, 2025, to July 25, 2025. Organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering, this program offers a hands-on learning experience in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), and Drone Simulation & Design. The initiative is part of the SwaYaan Project, supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

About the Internship Program

This internship is designed to equip budding engineers with practical knowledge in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) through comprehensive training sessions, tool-based projects, and real-time applications. It also focuses on developing essential technical and soft skills including:

• Drone Modelling & Simulation
• Use of AI & IoT in Drone Systems
• Training on MATLAB and Python Tools
• Mini Design Projects (both Hardware and Software-based)
• Skill-building in Report Writing and Presentations

• Only students in their 4th semester (i.e., second-year students) are eligible.

This internship is a part of the ‘Capacity Building for Human Resource Development in UAS/Drone and Related Technologies’, known as Project SwaYaan. It’s a national-level initiative under MeitY aiming to transform India into a global drone innovation hub by 2030.

The project connects more than 30 premier institutions, including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and C-DACs, to offer skill-building activities and training programs in drone-related fields. It also collaborates with industry leaders such as FICCI, HAL, DFI, and ESSCI to ensure alignment with the latest trends and market demands.
