Program Details

Duration

• The summer research program will run from May 15, 2025, to July 22, 2025.
• The minimum duration is six weeks, while the maximum duration is eight weeks.
• Students must ensure availability during these dates, as flexibility outside this timeframe is not permitted.

Program Components

The Summer Research Program 2025 consists of two key components:

1. Research Work: Students will undertake research projects under the guidance of IISER Mohali faculty members.
2. Interdisciplinary Coursework: A series of lectures will be conducted by faculty members from various disciplines.

Certificate

Students who successfully complete the program and submit a final research report (approved by their supervisor) will receive a certificate from IISER Mohali.

Eligibility Criteria

The program is open to students currently enrolled in the following academic programs:

• BSc (Second Year/Third Year)
• MSc (First Year)
• BTech (any year)
• Five-Year PG Program
• Other equivalent programs

Students must have a strong academic record and an interest in research.

Fields of Research

Applicants must choose a subject domain that aligns with their academic interests. The available research domains include:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Earth and Environmental Science
• Humanities
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Other related fields

Selection Process

Applicants will be selected based on:

• Academic Performance
• Statement of Purpose (SOP)
• Alignment with IISER Mohali’s Research Interests
• Availability of Faculty Members

Categories of Selection

Selected students will be placed into one of the following categories:

• Category A: Students with their own scholarships (e.g., DISHA, KVPY, state scholarships, etc.).
• Category B: Students supported through SSR-SERB grants provided by faculty members.
• Category C: Other selected students.

Financial Support and Accommodation

• IISER Mohali does not provide a stipend, fellowship, or financial support for food, travel, or other expenses.
• Students can avail hostel mess services on a paid basis.
• Category C students will be provided free accommodation.
• Category A & B students must pay a nominal accommodation charge using their scholarship funds.
