The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) through its Microwave Tube Research & Development Centre (MTRDC) in Bengaluru is looking for Junior Research Fellows (JRFs). DRDO MTRDC JRF 2026 Eligibility Criteria

You need to meet specific academic qualifications for this JRF position:

  • For B.E/B.Tech Graduates: A Graduate Degree in a Professional course (B.E/B.Tech) in Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation (EI), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electronics & Telecommunication (ET), or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) with a first division. You also need a valid NET or GATE score.
  • For M.Sc. Graduates: A Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc.) in Electronics with a first division, along with NET qualification.
  • For M.E/M.Tech Graduates: A Post Graduate Degree in a Professional course (M.E./M.Tech) in Electronics, Power Electronics, or Electrical Engineering. You need a first division at both your graduate and post-graduate levels.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The age limit for JRF candidates is 28 years. However, DRDO offers age relaxation:

  • Up to 5 years for SC/ST/PH candidates.
  • Up to 3 years for OBC candidates.

If you claim age relaxation, you must bring the original caste certificate issued by the competent authority. Physically handicapped candidates need a medical certificate from a government hospital or medical board.

Stipend and Duration of the JRF Position

As a Junior Research Fellow at DRDO MTRDC, you will receive a stipend of ₹37,000 per month. You will also get House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per DRDO rules. The fellowship is for a period of 2 years, which can be extended for a maximum of another 2 years.
