The Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE), Kanpur—a leading laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence—released a notification for its Paid Internship Programme 2025. This opportunity was for final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students in Science and Engineering disciplines who sought hands-on industrial/research exposure in defence-related domains.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Students must be in the final year of their undergraduate (7th/8th semester B.Tech.) or postgraduate (2nd year M.Tech./M.Sc.) programs.
  • The program must be a full-time course from a recognized Indian University/Institute.
  • Candidates must belong to one of the approved disciplines listed below.

Minimum Academic Requirement:

  • 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA and above (on a scale of 10).

Age Limit:

  • Applicant should be below 28 years of age.

  • CH – Chemistry
  • TE – Textile Engineering
  • MSE – Materials Science & Engineering

Stipend Details

  • Selected students receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month.
  • Stipend is disbursed in two installments:
  • First installment after 3 months
  • Second installment after completion of the 6-month tenure
  • Amount is directly credited to the student’s bank account.

Selection Process

  • Merit-Based shortlisting of candidates is based on CGPA/Marks.
  • Dean/Director/Principal must recommend and submit request letters for only highly meritorious candidates.
  • Online interviews or interactions may be conducted if necessary.
  • Selection is final and based solely on merit. No correspondence is entertained for non-selected candidates.

Terms and Conditions

  • No accommodation/boarding is provided.
  • Students are responsible for their own lodging.
  • No other paid internship should be undertaken during this internship.
  • Strict adherence to Official Secrets Act, IT Rules, and DRDO’s internal regulations is required.
  • No claim for employment in DRDO/DMSRDE after the internship is entertained.
  • Students must not bring laptops, pen drives, hard disks, or mobile phones inside the premises.
  • Project work remains the intellectual property of DMSRDE. University has no claim over it.
  • Disciplinary violations or non-completion lead to termination of internship and non-issuance of certificate or stipend.
  • Leaves are not allowed, except for valid medical emergencies with prescription.

Completion Certificate

  • Issued only after:
  • Full 6-month internship completion
  • Submission of Project Report
  • Internal evaluation and clearance

No certificate or stipend is given if the student discontinues the internship midway.
