DRDL Hyderabad has opened applications for its paid internship program for 2026. The Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) is offering 165 internships across engineering and physical science branches. If you are in your final year of an undergraduate engineering program or a postgraduate program, this is a direct opportunity to work with DRDO on missile systems.

DRDL Internship 2026 Eligibility
You are eligible if you are an Indian citizen and currently pursuing:
- Final year of Undergraduate Engineering (B.E./B.Tech), or
- Final year of Postgraduate Engineering (M.E./M.Tech), or
- Final year of Postgraduate in Physical Science (M.Sc.)
Your course must be a full-time program from a recognized Indian university or institute. You need a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in your current degree. The age limit is below 28 years.
Your college principal or director must provide a referral letter recommending you as a meritorious student. This is mandatory.

How to Apply for DRDL Internship 2026
Follow these steps to submit your application:
- Prepare the application form: Download the DRDL Internship Application Form from the official DRDO website. Fill in all details: name, date of birth, Aadhar number, college details, discipline, branch code, degree and semester, percentage/CGPA, achievements, languages known, contact details, and email ID.
- Get the referral letter: Your college principal or director must write a referral letter on college letterhead. The letter should state that you are a bonafide student, meritorious, and that the college has no objection to you undergoing the internship. Include your details, faculty coordinator details, and college information. The letter must be signed with the office seal.
- Email the scanned copies: Send the scanned application form and referral letter to drdlintern2026@gmail.com before 16 August 2026.
- Walk-in submission (optional): You can also submit the physical application in an envelope at the registration desk on the day of the walk-in interview. Write on the envelope: “Application for Paid Internship” and mention the branch code (EE/ME/PH/CS).
Selection Process and Interview
DRDL will shortlist candidates based on their academic marks and performance in the interview. The interview is a walk-in, but only shortlisted candidates will be informed about the date and time via phone and on the DRDO website. The tentative date for informing selected candidates is 23 August 2026.
Eligible candidates may be called for an interaction or interview. The selection is purely on merit. No communication will be sent to rejected candidates.
Stipend and Payment Details
The monthly stipend is Rs 5,000. Payment is made in two installments directly to your bank account. The first installment is paid after three months of training, provided you maintain a minimum physical attendance of 15 working days per month. The second installment is paid after successful completion of the six-month internship.
If you leave the internship before completing three months, you will not receive any payment. If you leave after three months but before six months, you will not receive the completion certificate.
Documents Required at Joining
If selected, you must bring the following documents at the time of joining:
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your college on letterhead, stating that you will be relieved for the internship and will attend at least 15 working days per month.
- Police verification certificate (or acknowledgement from the police station).
- Undertaking to adhere to the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923.
- Undertaking to follow IT rules and regulations of the Ministry of Defence.
- Bank details for stipend transfer.
- Medical fitness certificate from an MBBS doctor.
- Aadhar card (original) and college ID card.
- Three passport-size photographs.
- All previous semester marksheets (originals) for verification.
All original documents will be returned after verification.
