DRDO DEAL Paid Internship: Guide to Application and Eligibility

The Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL), a laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, offers a Paid Internship Programme. This internship is at DEAL in Dehradun. It gives final-year engineering students hands-on research exposure.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the internship, candidates must meet these requirements:

• Must be a full-time B.E./B.Tech student from a recognized institute in India.
• Should be entering 4th year / 7th semester (i.e., currently in the final year).
• Must have completed the first 3 years / 6 semesters without any backlogs or failures.
• Candidates must be Indian citizens only.
• A valid Recommendation Letter or No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the Head/Dean/Principal of the institution is mandatory.

Stipend Details

• Monthly Stipend: ₹5,000 (Fixed)
• Total Payout: ₹30,000, disbursed in two installments:
  • ₹15,000 after completion of 3 months
  • ₹15,000 after successful completion of 6 months
• Note: Interns bear expenses such as lodging, travel, food, and medical facilities.

Documents Required

Prepare and attach the following documents with the application form:

1. Duly filled application form (Appendix-A) – in prescribed format.
2. Recent passport-size photograph (pasted on the form).
3. Recommendation Letter/NoC from the college (on official letterhead).
4. Brief Bio-data / Write-up about the candidate.
5. Academic transcripts or mark sheets up to the 5th semester.

Incomplete or unsigned applications will be rejected.

How to Apply – Step-by-Step Process

• Use the prescribed format (Appendix-A).
• Mention all details accurately, including academic performance up to 5th semester.
• Attach a recent passport-size color photograph.

Step 2: Prepare the Recommendation Letter

• Get a NoC/Recommendation Letter printed on your college’s letterhead.
• It must be signed and sealed by the Head/Principal of your institution.

Step 3: Assemble All Documents

Ensure you have:

• Application form
• NoC
• Bio-data/write-up
• Academic marksheets (up to 5th semester)
• Valid ID proof (preferably Aadhaar)

Step 4: Submit the Application

• Mode: Offline only
• Send by post or submit in person to: HRD Cell, Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL), DRDO, Raipur Road, Dehradun – 248001, Uttarakhand
• Deadline: Applications for the 2025 cycle closed on 18th July 2025.

Selection Procedure

• All applications will be screened by the HRD Committee at DEAL.
• Selected candidates will be informed via Email or Phone.
• Final selection will require submission of:
  • Police Verification Certificate
  • Other formalities as directed in the offer letter

Important Guidelines

• Incomplete applications or submissions without proper documents will be rejected.
• No candidate will be considered for employment post internship.
• Candidates must strictly adhere to the lab’s rules, regulations, and security protocols.
• Interns who do not complete the full 6-month period will not be issued a certificate.
• DEAL reserves the right to alter/cancel the selection process or number of seats at any stage.
