About the Role
Xiaomi India is seeking enthusiastic and driven Data Engineer Interns to join their dynamic data team. As a global tech leader known for smartphones, smart devices, and internet services, Xiaomi relies heavily on data to drive decisions across business units. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work on real-world projects involving large-scale data systems, pipeline engineering, and analytics infrastructure.
As an intern, you will contribute to data infrastructure that supports Xiaomi’s analytical, business intelligence, and AI-driven initiatives. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers and analysts in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL
- Support data modeling activities for business intelligence and reporting
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, and validation tasks using PySpark
- Work with Hadoop ecosystem tools to handle large volumes of data
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure data accuracy and availability
- Assist in creating and maintaining data documentation and version-controlled scripts
Technical Skills Required
- Python, SQL, PySpark, Data Modeling, HDFS, Hive, Spark, Jupyter Notebook, VS Code, AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks
Detailed Technical Requirements
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and data manipulation
- Ability to write complex SQL queries, including joins and aggregations
- Understanding of data modeling techniques such as Star and Snowflake schemas
- Familiarity with Big Data tools like Hive, HDFS, and Spark
- Hands-on experience or basic knowledge of PySpark is an added advantage
- Exposure to integrated development environments such as Jupyter Notebook or VS Code
- Knowledge of any cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Databricks) is a plus
