The team works closely with purchasing communities and line functions to improve efficiency through digitalization, governance, harmonization, and continuous improvement initiatives. It also supports digital and IT projects that enable business value while collaborating with stakeholders across global purchasing operations.

Role Overview

The Purchasing Associate works within the Purchasing Support Centre and supports purchasing activities delegated by buyers across trucks, buses, and Penta sites globally. The role offers exposure to global supply chain operations and provides opportunities to develop expertise in purchasing and supply chain management while working with experienced professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain handler logs and support portfolio activities including order management and priority aftermarket requisitions.
  • Manage RFQ processes, including launching RFQs, following up with suppliers for quotes, and addressing supplier queries in coordination with buyers and cross functional teams.
  • Compile and analyze supplier quotations, preparing summary comparisons and cost breakdowns for parts and suppliers.
  • Resolve portfolio related issues with suppliers and internal teams, including supplier price discrepancy management.
  • Perform analytical tasks such as price inconsistency analysis, 80/20 analysis, ABC analysis, volume trend analysis, supplier dashboards, material cost reports, supplier spend analysis, and part price evolution.
  • Support supplier integration activities such as establishing EDI connections, supplier portal access, and supplier base administration including code creation or updates.
  • Assist with taxonomy and segmentation activities and maintain departmental dashboards and analytical reports.

The Volvo Group Purchasing Support Center is a collaborative and energetic team that delivers tactical purchasing support to global stakeholders. Team members work closely with suppliers and internal partners while handling purchasing related tasks and resolving operational challenges.
