About the Role

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Trainee Automation & Controls Engineer from the 2026 graduating batch to join our Mumbai office. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of a lead engineer or department manager to deliver high-quality instrumentation and control engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design instrumentation and control (I&C) systems and equipment as per client and facility requirements.
• Develop Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and control schematics.
• Create control system deliverables including I/O configuration, field connection diagrams, DCS connection diagrams, loop drawings, control panel designs, instrument wiring diagrams, cable schedules, functional descriptions, IQ/OQ documentation, and control room layouts.
• Prepare instrumentation deliverables such as installation diagrams, datasheets, location plans, conduit routing, and I/O lists.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to design and implement new system processes.
• Review I&C designs and specifications for purchased or fabricated equipment.
• Develop concept studies and designs based on customer needs and requirements.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination.
• Graduating in 2026 batch from a reputed Indian university or institute.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of instrumentation engineering principles, codes, and safety standards.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and Microsoft Office applications.
