The Solutions Engineering team connects complex customer requirements with practical manufacturing solutions. This includes interpreting technical drawings, performing cost analysis, and conducting DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews to ensure parts can be produced efficiently.
The role also focuses on improving quoting workflows by reducing manual steps and standardizing processes. Engineers identify potential risks related to materials, tolerances, or production feasibility and collaborate with internal teams to address them before delivery is affected.
Through strong technical knowledge and clear communication, the team improves customer experience. Accurate quotations, realistic timelines, and dependable manufacturing outcomes are key objectives.
This position reports to the Global Solution Engineering Director.
Key Responsibilities
Accurate and Timely Quoting
- Prepare precise cost estimates for CNC machining and related manufacturing processes.
- Conduct DFM analysis to identify risks, recommend design adjustments, and improve cost and lead time.
- Apply manufacturing knowledge to quote complex parts, including time-sensitive requests.
Technical Support and Expertise
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and material specifications to assess feasibility.
- Suggest alternatives for difficult materials or complex part geometries.
- Advise on machining, finishing, and assembly processes.
- Provide manufacturing expertise across regions including the US, India, China, and Mexico while considering budget, timeline, and project priorities.
Customer Engagement and Education
- Communicate directly with customers to clarify requirements and address design questions.
- Share updates during quoting and project stages to maintain transparency.
- Explain trade-offs related to cost, lead time, and quality.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Sourcing, Quality, and Logistics teams for smooth execution.
- Work with manufacturing partners to confirm capabilities, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Risk Identification and Mitigation
- Identify manufacturing challenges early to avoid delays or rework.
- Recommend alternate materials, tolerances, or processes when necessary.
