Role Description
Salesforce is seeking a Distributed Systems Software Engineer to join the Big Data infrastructure team. In this role, you will help design and develop reliable and efficient data infrastructure that powers large scale data processing and analytics for both internal and external users.
Your Impact
- Build Data Processing and Analytics Services: Develop scalable services using big data technologies such as Spark, Trino, Airflow, and Kafka to support real time and batch data pipelines.
- Contribute to Distributed Systems: Participate in the design, development, and operation of distributed systems managing thousands of compute nodes across multiple data centers.
- Troubleshoot and Improve Systems: Investigate technical challenges and implement improvements that increase system reliability, availability, and performance.
- Service Ownership and Maintenance: Support the full service lifecycle, balancing feature development, system reliability, and reduction of technical debt.
- On Call Participation: Join the on call rotation to help maintain highly available services and respond to operational issues when required.
Required Qualifications
- Cloud Platforms: Experience working with AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes and infrastructure tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Big Data Ecosystem: Hands on exposure to tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Trino or similar SQL engines, Airflow, Kafka, and related technologies.
- Programming: Strong coding ability using languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or similar technologies used in distributed systems.
- Distributed Systems Knowledge: Understanding of distributed computing concepts including data partitioning, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
- System Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose system issues and improve large scale data infrastructure for reliability and efficiency.
