About the Role
S&P Dow Jones Indices, part of S&P Global, is seeking an Apprentice to join its technology team. The role involves contributing to the development, testing, and maintenance of software systems used for index calculation and distribution across global financial markets.
You will work with a global technology team that includes development, QA, and business analysis professionals. The position focuses on building and supporting applications used in the end-of-day calculation and dissemination of index values.
Key Responsibilities
Development- Develop Java or Python applications for SPDJI websites and supporting feeder systems.
- Participate in software development activities including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Build software solutions based on defined business specifications.
- Support existing index applications and contribute to new technology initiatives.
- Apply object-oriented programming principles and relevant design patterns.
- Integrate internal applications with third-party vendor platforms.
- Set up development environments or sandboxes for application development.
- Commit application code changes to source repositories.
- Conduct unit testing and resolve defects in application code.
- Interact with databases to retrieve information and generate reports.
- Collaborate with customers, business users, and IT teams when required.
Basic Qualifications
- B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science or Information Technology (fresh graduates).
- Understanding of programming languages such as Java 8 or Python.
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and memory management.
- Exposure to unit testing and incremental deployment practices.
- Awareness of automation tools used in software development.
