Job Profile

The Layout Engineer coordinates the overall design of plant and package layouts. The role works closely with mechanical design, piping, electrical systems, instrumentation, installation and project engineering. The engineer ensures the 3D model reflects input from all disciplines and stays aligned with project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Layout drawings are often needed early by customers to plan foundations, buildings, utilities, installation areas and site preparation. Layout Engineers therefore work with both project teams and customers so the layout supports technical design and project needs.

The role also requires competency in piping design, including the design and routing of internal and external piping systems for gas turbine packages. The piping design must balance technical requirements, manufacturability, maintenance access, installation constraints and interfaces with surrounding equipment and structures. The engineer also carries out technical coordination across the project organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant, piping and package layout throughout the project lifecycle
• Creating and updating layout and installation drawings in NX
• Annotation, dimensioning, tagging and detailing of drawings
• Implementing layout revisions based on engineering input
• Maintaining and updating project 3D models
• Importing and managing supplier 3D models
• Supporting model quality checks and drawing preparation before release
• Understanding electrical layouts
• Executing defined CAD and modelling tasks according to customer standards and processes
• 3D modelling and routing activities in NX
• Implementing engineering changes and revisions
• Updating existing piping systems based on instructions from lead engineers
