Role Overview

MarketVector Indexes GmbH, the international index business of VanEck, is hiring a Junior DevOps Engineer to join its Technology team. The role focuses on supporting automation and daily operations for the platforms that power global equity, bond, digital asset, and custom indexes.

You will assist with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, containerized services, and monitoring systems to ensure index calculation engines, real-time data pipelines, and client-facing APIs operate reliably and securely.

Working with senior engineers, you will contribute to environment provisioning, release management, incident response, and observability. The role also includes writing simple automation scripts, maintaining runbooks and documentation, and helping improve developer experience and platform stability.

The position collaborates with teams across IT, Index Research, Operations, Product, Marketing, and Legal. Coordination with colleagues in Frankfurt and New York, as well as external consultants, is part of delivering reliable technology supporting the company’s benchmark indexes.

Infrastructure Support

• Assist in managing cloud resources, primarily in Azure, with some use of AWS.
• Help maintain and improve server environments, containers, and basic networking components.
• Work with infrastructure-as-code tools under guidance.

CI/CD Pipelines

• Support development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues, update configurations, and automate routine steps.
• Assist in streamlining development workflows for engineering teams.

Monitoring and Operations

• Monitor application performance and system health dashboards.
• Participate in incident response activities with supervision.
• Support improvements to logging and alerting systems.

Automation and Scripting

• Create basic automation scripts using tools such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Automate recurring operational tasks.

Security and Compliance

• Follow security practices including secret management, IAM permissions, and encryption.
• Adhere to internal standards for secure infrastructure and deployments.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Senior DevOps Engineer for task guidance and learning.
• Coordinate with development teams during deployment processes.
• Follow established documentation, procedures, and operational practices.
• Engage in continuous learning through training, workshops, and technical courses related to cloud technologies and modern software engineering.

Required Qualifications

• Understanding of Linux systems, networking basics, and cloud concepts.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Basic scripting ability in Bash or Python.
• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep/ARM, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
• Knowledge of application deployment processes.
