About the Role

The India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is part of the worldwide IBM Systems division, which builds servers, storage and systems software for next-generation enterprise IT infrastructure and data centers. Established in 1996 and headquartered in Bengaluru, ISDL also has teams in Pune and Hyderabad. Its teams cover processor development, firmware, operating systems, systems software, storage software, cloud software, performance engineering and system test, and they follow Agile, Design Thinking and DevOps practices.

As a Software Engineer at IBM ISDL, you will work across product development phases (design and development, test and support) on core systems technologies including operating systems, firmware, systems software, storage software and cloud software.

• Develop IBM Systems products while working with development, product management teams and end users across geographies.
• Analyze product requirements, decide on the design approach, implement the solution and test it across the full product lifecycle. Validation and support work is also possible.
• Work with capable, culture-driven teams building world-class products and deployment environments.

Areas of Work

Systems and Cloud Software Engineer: Design enhancements, write code (including test automation), handle problem determination and bug fixing, run performance analysis and solve client problems across IBM Compute and Storage Systems and the Hybrid Cloud stack.

AI Software Engineer: Deliver enterprise AI solutions on IBM Z, building ethical, secure and sustainable AI solutions. Work as a full stack developer from understanding client challenges to delivering solutions.

IBM Spectrum Fusion Software Engineer: Work with the Dev/Test team to develop and support features for the Spectrum Fusion roadmap, a container-native storage solution for OpenShift.

Linux Developer: Design and develop advanced Linux OS features for next-generation server platforms in collaboration with the Linux community.

HMC / Novalink Software Developer: Design, develop and test the Management Console for IBM Power Servers, including GUI and backend development in an Agile environment.

AIX Developer: Work on development, test or support of AIX OS features, or on porting and developing open source software for AIX.

Performance Engineer: Run experiments and analysis to find performance challenges in operating systems, enterprise servers and IBM Power virtualization and cloud management software built on OpenStack.

Firmware Engineer: Design and develop components and features on the open source OpenBMC stack and embedded firmware for next-generation enterprise Power, Z and LinuxONE servers.

Enterprise System Design Software Engineer: Build test and validation infrastructure for IBM server processors, SOCs and ASICs, or develop EDA tools for front-end verification, simulation, formal verification, place and route and synthesis.
