What you'll do

This role focuses on analyzing commercial and technical data for electronic components, PCB gerbers and assemblies to support cost out, resiliency and NPI projects. You will execute category-wise strategies in close collaboration with global procurement, product development teams and suppliers across the globe. You will also be responsible for improving engineering data for electronics components and contributing to data library development.

You will support cost out and resiliency improvement initiatives by suggesting cost-effective, technically compatible products from strategic suppliers in the category. Applying data analytics and ideation principles to create new project opportunities is expected. A working knowledge of electrical and electronic product development requirements is needed.

Key responsibilities

1. Analyze spend data to identify cost-out gaps across electronic components, PCBAs and similar items.
2. Help build strategies for enterprise-wide cost-out and resiliency projects, working with global procurement leaders, engineering counterparts and the supply chain team.
3. Improve engineering data for the electronics category, including components, PCBs and box build components.
4. Drive productivity through supplier consolidation, key data improvements and avoidance of part proliferation.
5. Apply basic engineering tools and principles, showing creative thinking in component selection, PCB fabrication knowledge and preliminary validation through simulations or engineering analytics.
6. Work with manufacturing, product teams and suppliers to resolve Design for Manufacturing, Design for Testing and Design for Assembly issues.
7. Build strong stakeholder relationships to execute strategies smoothly.
8. Generate new ideas and solutions for cost out, resiliency and NPI support.
9. Understand electronic devices and hardware, component working principles, schematics and interfaces.
10. Apply good knowledge of PCB layout, PCB fabrication, product design, testing and validation.
11. Preferably, have knowledge across multiple disciplines, including PCB layout, gerbers and fabrication, and electronic, electrical and mechanical areas.

Skills and experience

• Understanding of electronic component specifications, lifecycles and industry standards, PCB fabrication and gerbers.
• Awareness of applicable standards and environmental compliance such as IEC, UL, ISO, RoHS and REACH.
• Sound knowledge of spend data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of electronic component selection, schematic and circuit diagram reading, PCB layout, fabrication and gerbers. Hands-on expertise in Silicon Expert and schematic and PCB CAD tools such as OrCAD, Altium, Mentor Graphics and CAM350.
• Strong knowledge of finding electronic cost-out gaps in products.
• Good to have experience in design, testing and validation of hardware products.
• Ability to work and interact with global, cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
• Good interpersonal skills and clear communication with internal and external customers and suppliers.
