Job Title: Treasury Markets and Investments (TMI) - Associate

Treasury

  • The Treasury division at Deutsche Bank oversees sourcing, managing, and optimizing the bank’s financial resources while providing clear guidance on financial resource deployment. It operates under an integrated treasury risk framework that identifies resource demands, allocates costs to business units, and ensures compliance with evolving regulations.
  • Treasury also manages the bank’s funding pools, asset and liability management (ALM), and liquidity reserves. These activities help business units meet strategic goals at both global and regional levels while improving the long term return on average tangible shareholders’ equity (RoTE).
  • This role sits within the Treasury Office in Mumbai and involves collaboration with major hubs including New York, London, Frankfurt, and Singapore, with a strong focus on the Americas region.

Function Description

  • The Asset & Liability Management (ALM) team within Treasury handles structural risk management for the bank, including Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB).

Role Overview

  • Join the ALM team responsible for measuring, explaining, and managing interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB). The results support internal risk decisions and regulatory reporting.
  • The team works as an intermediary within Treasury and collaborates with business units and central functions such as Market Risk Management, offering exposure to several important financial topics.
  • The role contributes to improving the timeliness, consistency, and quality of IRRBB metrics, particularly Delta Net Interest Income (dNII), supporting effective risk management and decision making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review batch based dNII runs during the month as data feeds become available and are signed off, including execution on scheduled working days.
  • Increase intra month transparency by providing earlier visibility of results, identifying potential issues, and enabling engagement with the Treasury Risk Management team.
  • Take responsibility for parts of the Net Interest Income (NII) forecast process related to managing interest rate risk across divisions.
  • Back test NII runs for specific products or UBR segments, compare outputs from multiple systems, and explain calculation differences.
  • Review management information presented to ALCO, monitor the timeliness of RDARR classified critical metrics, and support appropriate escalation processes.
  • Assist in improving ALCO materials by offering insight into expected dNII movements and highlighting key drivers and data coverage.
  • Provide wider risk management support including analysis, P&L calculations, and reporting using tools such as Kannon and DB Analytics.
  • Prepare audit closure documentation and related reports.

Skills and Experience

Core Skills

  • Experience with calculation or reporting of interest rate risk for banking products such as NMDs, mortgages, loans, and term deposits.
  • Strong analytical capability and ability to work independently.
  • Quantitative investigative skills with advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Python or VBA is an advantage.
  • Ability to interact with business and infrastructure stakeholders across teams.

Additional Experience

  • Previous exposure to Treasury or related functions.
  • Experience in pricing models or financial modelling.
  • Experience in data analytics or process automation initiatives.
